It’s been a busy few days since my last post. There has been quite a few new project bags been made and some other items for the shop. It seems though I have lost my sock knitting mojo 🙁

Off The Needles

knitting projectsAt last I have finished my worstead Boxy by Joji Locatelli! Well when I say finished, the knitting is done and it is blocked, I just have a few pesky ends to weave in! Once I have managed to sit down and do them I’ll get Mr S to take some better finished object pictures!

I really loved knitting the sweater, I used Cascade 220 Heathers which is 100% Peruvian highland wool and is really soft and squishy. I don’t think this style of sweater suits my body type though and I don’t think it is a style I would wear often. That being said it will make a most wonderful cosy sweater to layer on extra cold days, especially for dog walking! As much as I really enjoyed knitting it I doubt I will knit another.

On The Needles

knitting projectsAs I cast off the Boxy I immediately cast on the So Faded by Andrew Mowry. This is a fingering weight sweater in 4 colours. I decided to go for a fade from cream to mocha with a little aqua in the middle! My only concern when it come to blocking will be colour bleeding. The dark brown and aqua is a knit picks hand painted stroll and fro past experience these yarns leek a lot of colour when blocking. I am thinking I will have to “dip” block by just putting the lower half of the sweater in the water until it runs clear before I submerge it all. If any of you have any suggestions on how to prevent colours running I would appreciate it if you could leave a comment below.

I am also still working on my Hyletad Socks by Evelina Roos. It seems I have developed a severe case of second sock syndrome with this project. For some reason I just can’t seem to get motivated to finish it! I think I am going to have to sit down with a Christmas film and these socks!

Yarny Acquisitions

So it’s the season of giving and also buying yarn! Well technically this lovely yarn from Stranded Dyeworks wasn’t actually a purchase! This was gifted to me by the lovely Lorelei Eurto of the Handmade by Lorelei podcast as part of #getyouryarnwishesgranted on Instagram.  This is the Vintage Christmas colourway in the Paradise base. I think I am going to knit a cowl with this as it is too soft and squishy for feet!

Another acquisition is this gorgeous sock yarn from Peggy May Yarns in the Jingle Bells colourway. I love the subtle Christmas colours in this yarn, it is going to make some gorgeous Christmas socks. This will probably be my Christmas Eve cast on this year. I am on the look out for a nice Christmasy themed textured sock pattern for this. The Vintage Fairy Lights pattern by Helen Stewart is looking like the favourite option right now.

I also purchased a sweaters quantity of Cascade Heritage fingering weight in the Strawberry Cream colourway. The pale pink really appealed to me and had to come to live in my stash! There is a plan for this yarn, it is probably going to be the Light Rain by Joji Locatelli. I love the style of this sweater and after seeing Tracy of the Grocery Girls Podcast wearing one she had knit I fell in love with it! That being said, loving the finished object is one thing. knitting up and getting a large fingering weight sweater knit up is another!

New Project Bags and Shop Update

Other then knitting and acquiring yarn I have been busy making up my final batch of project bags for the shop for this year.  There are 5 new design styles of large bags in the shop and a couple of medium sized bags. I have also sewn up an interchangeable needle case which is in the shop. Providing there is a demand for these I will make some more up for the shop for the new year.

project bags

My favourite of the new designs is this tea time fabric with the contrasting pink. When I bought the fabric initially it didn’t appeal to me and I used it for prototypes. However as I have been using it I have decided that it will definately be a staple shop fabric. Every bag has a different pattern placement and looks different. I also made the interchangeable needle cosy prototype with it which is now my go to needle case.

This feels like a rather a long rambling post so I’ll wrap things up here. See you soon and happy crafting.
