Knitting project bags are one of my favourite parts of project planning. There is something satisfying about having a bag for the right occasion or one that matches the yarn. Whether you use your project bags for knitting, crochet or even as a cosmetic bag we have a wide selection to chose from.

We currently stock wedge zippered wedge bags in medium and large sizes. Here is a look at our latest designs.

Large Knitting Project Bags

knitting project bagsThe latest bags in the shop will accommodate a lightweight sweater or large shawl. We have added a PU base to these bags to give the bag durability and a wipe clean base. This makes them the perfect bag to take your knitting out and about. All knitting project bags include a themed zipper pull / progress keeper. The design will compliment the main fabric of the bag.

knitting project bagsI have been trying out some new fabrics and have been pleased with the results. Some of these will become standard stock fabrics and there will be a lot of designs in the coming months in these styles.

The first fabric that will become a staple in the shop is the Parisian themed fabric shown above. I love the images and the colours in these prints and have perfect Eifel tower charms for matching zipper pulls.

knitting project bagsI also love this woodland themed owl fabric which has already become a favourite. Contrasted with a burgundy lining I think it looks great and will be producing many more items in this fabric.

Finally I have chosen this adorable tea time themed fabric as another shop staple. Although it has a large pattern it makes the most gorgeous items and none are ever the same. It also goes with so many pastel colours the variations are endless!

Christmas Themed Knitting Project Bags

There are still a few Christmas themed knitting project bags left in the shop. I still have these lovely Christmas tree with a shinny gold lining in stock. The bag will fit a 1 or 2 skein project quite easily and comes with a matching gold Christmas tree zipper pull / progress keeper.

Christmas knitting project bagThere are also a couple of these scandi patchwork fabric bags left in the shop. These are also my medium size which will comfortably hold a 1 or 2 skein project, ideal for your Christmas socks! These bags are lined with a contrasting red tartan patterned fabric and have a gold coloured Christmas tree and star zipper pull / progress keeper included.

There is also one sock bag kit left that includes a sock sized bag, needle cozy and stitch markers. Finally there is also a medium sized Christmas pudding themed bag left that has a matching polymer clay zipper pull / progress keeper.

These are the last of the Christmas bags that will be in the shop this year, if you would like one grab them while you can! They won’t be repeated next year and once they have gone, they have gone.

New Knitting Project Bags

knitting project bagsI have been playing with some different fabrics and designs. So far I haven’t made any drawstring bags but think that a range of sock sized drawstring bags would be a great addition to the collection.

Applique is a technique I really like and wanted to create a plain bag with a featured applique patch. Animals are a favourite for me and I could not resist this cute cat template.

knitting project bagsThe cat is cut from the same fabric as the lining and the face was hand embroidered on. Hand embroidery is one of the first crafts I learned and I still enjoy it now. I then hand sewed the patch onto the front of the bag and added a rhinestone necklace to match the fabric. The hot fix rhinestones add a bit of bling to an already cute cat!

These bags are quite time consuming to make, there will be some going in the shop in January but there won’t be large amounts. I am also planning on using some other applique templates which will be animal themed. Rhinestones will also be featured in more future designs.

Project Bag Plans

In 2018 I am looking at adding new project bags to my range. This will include drawstring sock sacks ideal for sock projects and small items. With sock knitting in mind, I am also planning on making some pyramid bags which are handy for portable sock knitting. These designs seem to be quite popular and I really enjoy the process of making them.

In addition to this I am looking at creating some complete bag kits. These will include a bag, needle cozy and notions bag. The Christmas ones I made were very popular, however the number on these will be quite limited.

Next year I am also planning on choosing a number of fabrics that will be staples in my shop. Fabrics for project bags will be more heavy duty fabrics rather than quilting cottons. Linens, canvas and twill make much more luxurious bags although there will be one or two quilting cottons that have irresistible designs!
